Carlsbad, New Mexico offers access to Carlsbad Caverns National Park, located about 30 minutes from the city, and the Pecos River runs through town with boating and paddle sports at Lake Carlsbad Beach Park. Living in Carlsbad places you near Sitting Bull Falls Recreation Area, about 45 miles away, and the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens State Park, which features native Chihuahuan Desert wildlife and hiking trails. The area supports an active outdoor lifestyle with Guadalupe Mountains National Park roughly 60 miles away in Texas and Brantley Lake State Park about 15 miles north for fishing, camping, and water recreation.
