Pay: $17.69/hour (+ overtime for hours over 40)

Job Summary

Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment throughout the facility, including manufacturing areas, offices, breakrooms, restrooms, and outdoor spaces. The General Custodian performs a variety of housekeeping, recycling, and sanitation duties using standard custodial equipment and supplies while supporting the overall cleanliness and appearance of the plant.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain manufacturing areas, offices, breakrooms, restrooms, and other facility spaces.
• Perform routine housekeeping duties including sweeping, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, and washing floors and surfaces.
• Empty trash receptacles and recycling containers and dispose of waste in designated areas.
• Maintain office furnishings, carpets, upholstery, windows, walls, and other facility fixtures.
• Operate floor sweepers, scrubbers, vacuums, and other custodial equipment.
• Operate a forklift or tow motor as needed to support custodial and recycling operations.
• Manage recycling and waste disposal processes, including operation of compactors, cardboard balers, and dumpsters.
• Maintain exterior paved areas and surrounding grounds as assigned.
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by management.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Basic math and recordkeeping skills.
• Ability to safely operate custodial equipment and machinery.
• Ability to operate or learn to operate a forklift/tow motor and floor scrubber.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize daily tasks.
• Dependable with a strong work ethic.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or manufacturing facility cleaning experience preferred.
• Forklift or tow motor experience is a plus.

Working Conditions

• Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and other typical plant conditions.
• Regular exposure to cleaning chemicals and custodial supplies.
• Frequent movement throughout the facility, including offices, production areas, and outdoor spaces.
• Occasional overtime may be required to support business needs.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform custodial duties in a manufacturing and office environment, including frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching, and moving throughout the facility.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment, machinery, and tools required to perform job duties, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and move materials, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds throughout the workday.
• Ability to safely operate or obtain certification to operate a forklift/tow motor and floor maintenance equipment.
• Ability to inspect work areas and maintain facility cleanliness and safety standards.
